A chronic acidic environment can start to develop in your mouth if you forget to brush each morning and night or floss your teeth once per day. Over time, the persistent presence of plaque acids and bacterial deposits trapped in contours of your teeth could cause a cavity to form.
Early signs that tooth decay has started to affect one of your teeth could include a noticeable change in surface texture, or increasing tooth sensitivity. In a situation like this it’s best to have it examined by our dentist, Dr. Jeff Tufarolo.
With early diagnosis, the dentist may be able to treat the tooth with a basic dental filling. The treatment plan starts with the dentist carefully removing any decayed tooth enamel. The clean tooth enamel will then hold the dental filling material. After the dentist has placed the new filling, he will cure it to allow it to harden and bond to the surface of your tooth. You will need to continue to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day and see your dentist for your regular checkups to make sure that you do not have a recurrent cavity in your tooth.
