For most of us, there is only one kind of toothache: the painful kind. No matter the cause, a toothache makes a person miserable, and the only thing they can think about it is putting an end to the pain. But toothaches can be caused by three things: gum disease, physical damage, and an infection.

If your toothache has been caused by gum disease, the dentist will need to treat the problem by a deep cleaning, an antibiotic or a prescription mouthwash. Once it has been cleared up, you will need to brush and floss regularly, and visit Jeff Tufarolo, DDS, PS as directed by the dentist to monitor the health of your gums.

If the problem has been caused by physical damage, you may need to have a cavity filled, a crown placed, or if it has been caused by grinding your teeth, your dentist may want to fit you for a night guard to wear while you sleep.

If infection is the cause of your pain, you may need to be treated with a course of antibiotics, or you may even require a root canal. No matter the cause, if you are experiencing any pain in one of your teeth, you need to call 425-405-6400 to schedule an appointment at Jeff Tufarolo, DDS, PS and get some relief.
